Local Guide: Best Lakes to Visit in Southeastern Wisconsin

Summer in Wisconsin means spending time on our many, beautiful lakes. Whether you’re interested in water-front properties, fishing, boating, waterskiing or all of the above, there is something for everyone. Wisconsin is home to over 15,000 lakes! We’ve put together a comprehensive local guide on of few of the best lakes to visit in Southeastern Wisconsin! 

Lake Michigan

Lake Michigan borders the eastern side of Wisconsin, and is known for being the second-largest of the Great Lakes. Known for sandy beaches, fishing and so much more, this is a great place to spend time with your family.

Pewaukee Lake

The largest lake in Waukesha County provides some of the best fishing in southeast Wisconsin, including the top spot in the state to land 50-plus inch Muskies. Access the lake by three public boat launches for fishing, sailing, waterskiing, canoeing and powerboating.

Oconomowoc Lake

Oconomowoc Lake is a stunning place for a summer retreat! The surrounding towns are filled with shops and restaurants, and the areas are known for local festivals for all ages!

Nagawicka Lake

This 981-acre lake with a maximum depth of 90 feet, giving visitors opportunities to boat, swim, and fish. Native fish include Pan fish, Largemouth Bass, Smallmouth Bass, Northern Pike and Walleye.

Pine Lake

Pine Lake is completely surrounded by the Village of Chenequa, which is known as “Tree City USA”! You can fine rare groves of white pines, and can be see along the eastern Shore of Pine Lake!

Okauchee Lake

Okauchee lake is the perfect spot for all outdoor activities from swimming, tubing, waterskiing and more! The lake also has several nice accessible bars and restaurants. There are plenty of places to tie up, drop anchor and just enjoy the summer day!

Lac La Belle

Lac La Belle, located in Waukesha County, is known for boating and fishing!

Lake Koshkonog

Muskego Lake

Muskego is home to a few lakes, most notably Big Muskego Lake and Little Muskego Lake. These lakes are known for their beautiful public beaches, parks and fishing ares.

Lake Geneva is known for the beautiful towns and historic mansions and estates surrounding the body of water. It’s a great place for honeymooners, families, and friends alike. The lake is also known for it’s beaches, water activities and fishing opportunities.

Delavan Lake
